Yet, some of these responses have been years in the making as mobility providers – those that help get goods, people and services from A to B – and users have searched for more sustainable, straightforward ways to go about their business.
Grappling with the future
In the coming decades, the world will become even more urban and populous. The second quarter of the twenty-first century will be dominated by the need to retool economies to serve more people, decarbonise, adapt to climate change, and improve resilience in the face of viruses, cyber threats and other sources of fragility.
And in turn, leaders from across the private and public sectors – including local governments – will grapple with how the automotive, aerospace, transport and logistics and other sectors can innovate and grow in the face of these headwinds.
Reinventing the wheel launches
To better understand the trends and changes that encompass the movement of people, goods, services and data, we have launched Reinventing the wheel: what’s driving change in 21st century mobility. This insight series features contributions from Mazars experts from around the world. Each article is shared to help businesses and their teams navigate the changing mobility world and seize commercial opportunities.

As these debates play out across the industry - exploring how mobility providers and users can influence and lead a transformation towards cleaner, more connected and collaborative systems - we have created three interconnected Reinventing the wheel series:

- Mobility and the next wave of disruption
The first series, Mobility in a sustainable, post-Covid world focuses on how the world of mobility can offer safer options in light of Covid-19 and more sustainable options considering increased expectations from governments and consumers for resilient, net-zero carbon economies.

The second series, Mobility as a service, focuses on how the mobility sector is moving away from a product mentality to mobility as a multi-modal, multi-platform service. It will include expert insight on the development of carsharing, how mobility businesses could create more liveable cities, and more.
Mobility and the next wave of disruption, the third series in the campaign, will explore how data, analytics, robotics, 5G and other technologies will shift the mobility landscape in the coming decades, and how mobility players should prepare for the changes to come. Articles in the series will cover future modes of transport, last mile delivery and the role of robotics in mobility’s transformation.
